Aside from Bodnant, just four miles away lies the coast and the medieval town of Conwy, with its majestic Edwardian castle towering dramatically as the gateway to the North Wales coast.

In Wales, 2017 is the Year of Legends, building on the success of 2016 as the Year of Adventure, which saw North Wales nominated as one of the top four adventure destinations in the world by the Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel guide. We are the only UK region nominated, on the strength of attractions such as Surf Snowdonia, the World’s largest artificial surfing lagoon (5 minutes away) and Zip World, where you can reach 100 mph on the longest zip wire in Europe or ride the tree-top toboggan, where you control how fast you travel.

Great walks, beaches, World class golf and mountain biking facilities, unique steam train journeys, the National White Water centre for kayakers and canoeists, and miles of pristine, and often deserted, scenic roads are all part of the experience. So whether you want to find your inner Bradley Wiggins (or Jeremy Clarkson) climb a mountain (on foot or by train) or take a crash course in surfing without worrying about whether there actually will be any surf, you will not have far to go.
